That little ray of sunshine looks lonely sitting along on the side of the road, overlooking a field of spring wheat.

She is anything but.

This little daffodil has nearby friends as she shows off colors of white and yellow, shadowed in green.

By herself? Sure. Alone? Hardly.

But jutting up from the dirt, she is a sign of hope. Spring is the season of growth and she surely is showing us that.

Passing her on the side of the road, it was that hope that drew me to pull over and give her a tiny place in history. Next year she will be joined by several offshoots. No longer will she blow in the wind by herself.

But for now, she’s giving all who see her, and take the time to notice, a little bit of inspiration in a time when we surely need it.

That she manages to grow when all around her things seem out of control is amazing enough. Listen to politicians and the news and you get the feeling the world is coming to an end.

Who knows, but God says it will – making the current state of affair something akin to looking down a light-less tunnel.

Yet there she is, something God created, giving us hope that things will be alright.
